Canada – from SEA to SEA

Canada has adopted a motto that makes sense from a geographical perspective, three out of four borders are bodies of water, and the fourth border is a common border with the United States of America.

Canada’s land mass is the second largest in the world, the honour of first place goes to the Russia.

Canada is composed of provinces and territories that span an area of approximately 4 million miles. Throughout Canada you will find differences in landscape, weather patterns and wild life, not to mention a wide array of language dialects and two official languages, English and French.

The majestic beauty found throughout Canada has been recognised worldwide through international events such as the Olympics. From the wetlands in Manitoba to the dry desert in Saskatchewan, the rain forests in British Columbia to the Canadian Shield, each province has its own attractions.

Canadians are proud of their surroundings and enjoy being able to spot Canadian cities in Hollywood movies and television shows. So much of the landscape remains unspoiled and makes filming scenes from the Old West far more believable.

Confederation by Province/Territory:

Alberta 1905
British Columbia 1871
Manitoba 1870
New Brunswick 1867

Nova Scotia 1867

Confederation dates indicate the dates in which provinces or territories joined the union Dominion of Canada. These dates were gathered from the National Library of Canada web site.
