2005 Recent History

On September 27, 2005 The Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson, Canada's 26th Governor General, retired after six years of distinguished service to Canada as the Queen's representative. Queen Elizabeth's new representative is The Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean who was sworn in on September 27, 2005. Michaëlle Jean shares the vision of hope with Queen as she begins her reign as the 27th Governor General of Canada.

Royal Visit 2005:

In May, 2005 Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh came to help celebrate Alberta's and Saskatchewan's centennial.

On September 1, 1905 both Alberta and Saskatchewan became provinces; join in celebrating Alberta's and Saskatchewan's centennial celebrations by visiting their websites.
